United States Election Day

Have you cast your vote today?I regret to say that I did not. I became a United Citizen last year and I know it is one of my responsibilities as a US Citizen to vote. There are so many things that I have to learn about US Politics, I just do not want to vote just to vote, I want to make sure that when I cast my vote, it is for the right reason.

On another note, Congratulations to whoever wins this election and I hope and Pray that all of you will do your duty right, as people chose you to be our leaders and you chose to serve our country.

Prayer For Peace

Let's all offer a Prayer for Zamboanga City, Philippines and all the countries who are experiencing war right now.

Almighty God and Creator,

ou are the Father of all people on the earth. Guide, I pray all the nations and their leaders in the ways of justice and peace. Protect us from the evils of injustice, prejudice, exploitation, conflict and war. Help us to put away mistrust, bitterness and hatred. Teach us to cease the storing and using of implements of war. Lead us to find justice, peace and freedom. Unite us in the making and creating of the tools of peace against ignorance, poverty, disease and oppression. Grant that we may grow in harmony and friendship as brothers and sisters created in Your image, to Your honor and praise.

Amen.

Snow In The Philippines?

When I woke up this morning, I saw a lot of messages in FB saying  it snowed in the Philippines, I could not believe it so I searched about it online.

According to the news, it did not snow in the Philippines. The video uploaded which started all these rumors was not real. The video was actually an ashfall taken in 2009 around Christmas during an eruption of Mayon volcano in Albay.

So, there you go, the rumors about Snowing in the Philippines is a hoax.

Casey Anthony's Story

I am watching Casey Anthony's Story at E! True Hollywood Story. This documentary film tackled about Casey and Caylee Anthony's life story.I really feel sorry for Caylee Marie Anthony, but I know she is happy with our Creator in Heaven right now. It is just so sad that until now we do not know what really happened to her and who killed her. It is so disappointing knowing that her killer is walking around freely and Caylee did not get the justice that she deserved.

They said Caylee's mom killed her, but she got acquitted with all the charges. Well, I guess we will never know what really happened to Caylee, all we can do right now is to PRAY for her soul and may she rest in peace.

President Obama Called Kanye West a Jackass!

Kanye West is really a jackass like what President Obama called him for interrupting Taylor Swift's speech during the VMA. I would like to share a video that has an audio of what President Obama said about Kanye West. I love Kanye West's music but why does he got to be so mean and such a jerk? Taylor Swift is one of the best country singers of her generation.

$10,000 in box of crackers

A family in Irvine California found $10,000 inside a crackers box.

The box of crackers Debra Rogoff bought from the grocery store had some crackerjack in it — an envelope stuffed with $10,000.

Rather than go on a shopping spree, the family called police and was initially told the money could be part of a drug drop.

Police later heard from store managers at Whole Foods in Tustin that an elderly woman had come in a few days earlier, hysterical because she had mistakenly returned a box of crackers with her life savings inside. In a mix-up the store restocked the box rather than composting it.

The Lake Forest woman, whose identity was not released, had lost faith in her bank and decided the box would be a safer place for the money.

Luckily for her, the box of Annie's Sour Cream and Onion Cheddar Bunny crackers were bought by the Rogoffs, who discovered the crisp $100 bills in an unmarked white envelope on Oct. 10.

The Rogoffs never heard from the woman and didn't receive a reward, but Rogoff did return to Whole Foods a couple weeks later.

Walsh Murder Finally Solved

A serial killer who died more than a decade ago is the person who decapitated the 6-year-old son of "America's Most Wanted" host John Walsh in 1981, police in Florida said Tuesday. The announcement brought to a close a case that has vexed the Walsh family for more than two decades, launched the television show about the nation's most notorious criminals and inspired changes in how authorities search for missing children.

"Who could take a 6-year-old and murder and decapitate him? Who?" an emotional John Walsh said at Tuesday's news conference. "We needed to know. We needed to know. And today we know. The not knowing has been a torture, but that journey's over."

Walsh's wife, Reve, at one point placed a small photo of their son on the podium.

The Next White House Chief Of Staff

Democratic officials say Barack Obama's fellow Chicagoan Rahm Emanuel has agreed to be White House chief of staff.

One of Obama's first decisions as president-elect was to ask the Illinois congressman to run his White House staff. Emanuel accepted Thursday after struggling over family and political considerations.

Emanuel serves in the House Democratic leadership and will have to resign his seat and put aside hopes of becoming House speaker.

Emanuel is a fiery Democrat who served as a political and policy aide in the Clinton White House. His selection is a shift in tone for Obama, who chose more low-key leadership for his presidential campaign.

Obama planned his first public appearance since his presidential victory for Friday — a meeting with economic advisers to discuss the nation's financial woes that Americans listed as their top concern on Election Day.

College Student Swindler Sentenced To 5 Years

I was checking some news online and this is what I have found out.

PHILADELPHIA – A college student who with her boyfriend stole the identities of friends and neighbors was sentenced Friday to five years in prison and ordered to pay more than $100,000 in restitution.

Jocelyn Kirsch, a former Drexel University student, and then-boyfriend Edward Anderton used the money for expensive salon visits, exotic vacations and fancy dinners.

Federal guidelines called for a prison sentence of 70 months, but U.S. District Judge Eduardo C. Robreno credited Kirsch for her apparent remorse and for her July 14 guilty plea to aggravated identity theft and other counts.

Kirsch, 23, and Anderton acknowledged stealing the identities of friends and neighbors in the Philadelphia area in 2006 and 2007 to net more than $116,000 in goods and services.

The scheme unraveled when an employee at an upscale salon told police that a check for Kirsch's $2,250 hair extension job had bounced. About the same time, a neighbor of the couple told police a package she did not order had been sent to her.

Police released photos showing the two posing in matching red swimsuits by a luxury hotel pool and kissing near the Eiffel Tower.

Anderton, a 25-year-old University of Pennsylvania graduate originally from Everett, Wash., is to be sentenced Tuesday.

Stealing your identity? That is really scary.I am glad that this girl was caught and sentenced before she can do it again. I hope this will served as a lesson to her to not do it again!

Sarah Palin Unlawfully Abused Power

I was checking some of the latest news online and one news caught my attention. It is about Sarah Palin. According to yahoo news,Sarah Palin unlawfully abused her power as governor by trying to have her former brother-in-law fired as a state trooper, the chief investigator of an Alaska legislative panel concluded Friday. The politically charged inquiry imperiled her reputation as a reformer on John McCain's Republican ticket.

Palin and McCain's supporters had hoped the inquiry's finding would be delayed until after the presidential election to spare her any embarrassment and to put aside an enduring distraction as she campaigns as McCain's running mate in an uphill contest against Democrat Barack Obama.

A Fortune Found In A Shipwreck

I was checking some news at yahoo.com and I have found out that there was a golden coin recently discovered on a 500-year-old Portuguese shipwreck off Namibia's rough southern coast.Archaeologists are racing against the little time left to salvage the fortune in coins and items discovered.

The 16th-century "Portuguese trade vessel was found by chance this April as mine workers created an artificial sand wall with bulldozers to push back the sea for diamond dredging," Namibian archaeologist Dieter Noli told reporters invited to view the site.

The abundance of objects unearthed where the ship ran aground along Namibia's notorious Skeleton coast, where hundreds of vessels were wrecked over the centuries, has amazed even hardened experts.

Six bronze cannons, several tonnes of copper, huge elephant tusks, pewter tableware, navigational instruments, and a variety of weapons including swords, sabres and knives have all been tugged out of the beach sand.Over 2,300 gold coins weighing some 21 kilograms (46 pounds) and 1.5 kilograms of silver coins were found -- worth over 100 million dollars.About 70 per cent of the gold coins are Spanish, the rest Portuguese, some of them were minted in October 1525 in Portugal.

Under international maritime laws, a wreck and its treasures belong to the country where they were found, and all the coins are now locked in the vaults of the Bank of Namibia in Windhoek.

A Man Selling Off His Life And Everything He Owns On eBay

zA man who put his life up for auction on eBay found it wasn't worth quite as much as he thought when he settled for around A$100,000 ($96,000) less than his target price. Ian Usher, 44, held the seven-day auction of all his belongings, including his three-bedroom home in the west Australian city of Perth and a trial for his job at a rug store, after the break-up of his five-year marriage.

Bids had reached as high as A$2.2 million, only for Usher to discover there had been a glitch on eBay's system which allowed the participation of non-registered bidders who had put in bogus offers.

In the end,the winning bidder agreed to pay A$399,300 ($380,286) for all of Usher's worldly goods, which also include his friends,a motorcycle and a jetski.According to the eBay website, the mystery buyer, whose user name is "mslmcc,"is in Australia and has a 100 percent feedback score.

Usher, who gave regular updates on the auction on his Web site www.alife4sale.com,now plans to travel in search of a new life.

Typhoon Frank Leaves The Philippines

Typhoon "Frank" (international codename: Fengshen) moved towards China Sea Sunday night after almost two days of battering provinces from south to north with rains, wind and high surf. If “Frank” will not change course, Luzon will still experience rains Monday, while the Visayas regions will have clearer skies, the weather bureau said. There will be general improvement in weather all over the country starting Tuesday. It left a trail of hundreds dead, more than 80,000 families displaced, and millions worth of damaged infrastructure. With gusts of up to 170 kph, “Frank” was difficult to forecast as it changed course several times. It was expected to batter the Bicol region after hitting the Visayas region but it changed directions Saturday when it barreled its way towards southern Luzon. Domestic and some international flights were delayed, many roads were blocked and power cuts were widespread. Various parts of the country—from Cavite City to Iloilo City to central Maguindanao—reported extensive flooding, resulting in massive evacuations in safer areas, such as schools. Classes in all levels in 13 affected provinces were called off Monday. “Frank” exited the country through Pangasinan province Sunday night.

Disasters Around The World

Disasters around the world is really getting worst and scarier.Just like the recent earthquake that happened in Japan, the flood in China and other countries.Let us all Pray to God for our safety.Let us all protect our Mother Earth!Let us not stop Praying and let us always ask for His help. The news about these disasters are really sad.Let us all Pray for the souls of those who had died and also their family.God Bless Us Always!

Thousand Homeless Due To Flood In China

More than 3,600 houses have collapsed in southern China after rains from a fading tropical storm caused widespread flooding.

Hundreds of people in the north-east have been evacuated to avoid landslides, state media says.

In the capital Beijing, a clear, sunny day ended with a brief but violent storm taking everyone by surprise.

High winds uprooted several trees, knocked flowerpots off balconies, cut power in some places and caused flash floods.

Tropical storm Pabuk, which hit Hong Kong on Friday, brought rain to south-eastern coastal provinces, offering temporary relief to the lingering drought there.

But it also caused floods across the southern province of Guangdong, toppling houses and affecting about 1.2 million people.

Downpours and rainstorms were recorded in Wenzhou and Taizhou in the eastern province of Zhejiang, which have suffered more than 20 days of sweltering heat.

Heavy rains also brought relief to 65,500 people and 30,300 hectares of scorched farmland in Fujian in the south-east.

A drizzly Hong Kong itself was getting back to normal on Monday after a severe storm warning forced markets, schools and ferries public facilities to close early on Friday.

More than 1,100 people were evacuated to avoid possible landslides after heavy rains hit Dandong, a city in the north-east province of Liaoning.

Mines in two counties under the jurisdiction of Dandong city were ordered to suspend operations as rain was expected all week.

Three more tropical storms are expected to form in coming days, threatening China and neighbouring Taiwan.

The tropical storms, as opposed to full-fledged typhoons, come at the tail-end of a summer over which a series of natural disasters in China has killed nearly 1,000 people in floods, landslides and house collapses.
