Rest In Peace Dolphy

Yesterday morning I saw my younger sister's post on facebook about the King of Comedy in the Philippines' death. I was really saddened by the news. Dolphy has been my idol since I was younger, I remember my daddy used to take us to the movies to watch Dolphy's movies.

Anyway, I would like to say thank you Dolphy for bringing joy to us for decades, may you rest in peace now.

Kanto Boys in Wowowee

The Kanto Boys (John Lloyd Cruz, Luis Manzano and Billy Crawford) are the newest special hosts of Wowowee right now. My husband does not really like them, he said he wants Robin "Idol" Padilla back and I agree with him. Don't get me wrong, I got nothing against the Kanto Boys but I just really really like to see Robin "Idol" Padilla in Wowowee.

Well, since Robin "Idol" Padilla is out and the Kanto Boys are in, I guess I would just have to say Goodluck and keep making us all happy! :)

Charice on Oprah Winfrey Show 2010

I've watched Charice interview at the Buzz with Kris Aquino 2 weeks ago, she said she is going to be on Oprah Winfrey Show on May 11, 2010 and will be releasing her first international album on Oprah's show. That is why I really waited for Charice's performance on Oprah Winfery Show yesterday, I also recorded it so I can watch it over and over again. Charice's story is really amazing. Oprah Winfrey said that Charice is one of the most talented person in the world.

Charice sang Pyramid with Iyaz and In This Song which she said is the story of her life. She said the released of her first international album is one of her greatest birthday gifts, she just turned 18. I told my husband to buy me her CD and he said yes.

Pyramid” shot to No. 1 this week on the Billboard Dance/Club Play chart, overtaking “Rude Boy” by Rihanna. Congratulation Charice and Goodluck with your career.

Noy-Noy Aquino

If I will be given a chance to vote for Philippines new President this coming election, I would vote for Noy-Noy Aquino. Noy-Noy came from a very prominent and good family. His parents did a lot for the Philippines and for the Filipino people.

Benigno "Noy-Noy" Aquino was no stranger to Philippine politics. He came from a family that had been involved with some of the country's political heavyweights. His grandfather served under President Aguinaldo while his father held office under Presidents Manuel L. Quezón and José P. Laurel.

Chicken Sotanghon For Brunch

Well,I am hungry and I need some food that can be cooked with in just 4-5 minutes.I wanted to cook some afritada and rice but I am too hungry and too lazy to make it so I decided to just have a chicken sotanghon.I bought it when I went to the Filipino store.It is good and yummy and fast.I just put hot water in it and add 1 egg and my food is ready!Chicken Sotanghon any one?:-)

Rudy "Daboy" Fernandez Passed Away Saturday Morning

Actor Rudy Fernandez died at 6:15 Saturday morning at his home in Joeylane Street in White Plains in Quezon City due to a lingering illness.

He was 55.

After years of suffering from peri-ampullary cancer, Rudy succumbed to death in the presence of his wife, actress Lorna Tolentino, and sons Renz Marion and Raphael Fernandez. He also has a son, Mark Anthony, also an actor, with former partner, actress Alma Moreno.

Minutes after the official announcement of his death, people from all sides of showbiz sent the sad news to one another via text or phone calls

Two days before his demise, Lorna issued a statement that she was ready to accept his husband’s sad fate. “I am entrusting his life to the Lord,” said the actress in her message

Yet, she hoped that Rudy would still miraculously recover.

During these last few months, Rudy and Lorna were shuttling between the US and the country for medical treatment of the actor’s cancer.

They were recently advised by the patient’s doctors in the US to stay in a Philippine hospital for treatment.

Fernandez was confined at the Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan for almost a month.

Before he was taken home, Senator Jinggoy Estrada, one of Rudy’s bosom friends, said during an interview that Rudy tried to fight his illness but couldn’t hide the real state of his health. He said Rudy’s tummy was already bloated and his eyes and skin were yellowish, all symptoms of the deadly cancer.

The last time Estrada paid Rudy a visit in the hospital, the patient was agonizing. “Hirap na hirap na ako. (I can’t bear this anymore),” Fernandez was heard complaining.

Meanwhile, Senator Ramon 'Bong' Revilla, another one of Rudy’s close pals, and colleagues in the film community, called on the public to say prayers for Fernandez..

Rudy’s final wish was to be laid to rest at the Heritage Park along C-5 in Taguig City.

Revilla told radio station dzMM Saturday that Fernandez's remains were immediately brought to the Heritage Park in Taguig City for the wake.

He said the public can pay their respects at the park.

Fernandez became famous for his action films such as "Baby Ama," and "Markang Bungo."

Fernandez has won best actor awards for his film, "Batuigas...Pasukuin si Waway," and "Victor Corpuz".

Why is it better to be a Filipino

I was blog hopping when I read this article about why it is better to be a Filipino from John's blog page...I think it is funny but somehow I think it really describes Filipino's lifestyle...

Filipinos don't pay a whole chunk of taxes.
Foreigners spend their lives trying to become rich enough so that they can avoid taxes.

Filipinos don't spend megabucks on heating oil.
Most foreigners do. And those same bucks have already been slashed by having the income tax deducted, so you could say that foreigners are paying the government for the pleasure of giving money to oil companies.

Filipinos are almost always smiling
Foreigners only smile when they are happy.
This gives the conclusion that Filipinos must always be happy.

All Filipinos, just about, have equal opportunity in swaying officialdom onto their side.
Foreigners are in a system where only the 'in-crowd' can change official decisions.

Filipinos have white sand beaches.
Canadian foreigners have tar-sand beaches that give out oil! And even those will probably be annexed by Bush and his American Union at some point.

Filipinos have a trust that all will be well.
Foreigners are told by the TV news that everything wasn't well today, or any day.

Filipinos don't have to shovel snow.
Canadian and northern US foreigners have to shovel snow, even, in some cities, the snow that is not on their land, but on the sidewalk in front. Oh, well, it saves on taxes.

Filipinos can buy rum for about $1.25 a bottle.
Foreigners pay about $40 for a bottle.

Filipinos don't need cars, they have public transport.
Foreigners, at least outside of cities, need cars, therefore need car license stickers, insurance, and at least $40 per hour for repair money.


Conclusion.
I suspect that life in Philippines is not too bad, provided there are a few bucks in the bank.
However, there are some snags:

Filipinos eat fish with heads on.
Foreigners likes food that does not look back at him.

Filipinos cook fish by burning it.
Foreigner does not like the smell of burning fish.

Filipinos blank blank blank with water.
Foreigners needs a good supply of toilet paper.
