My son being in school sometimes worries me. I could not stop thinking about him when he is not at home. I do not know if he is doing alright or what is going on with him. I would really love it if there will be a school alert system that could let the parents know immediately what is going on in school or with our children. I guess as long as I will live, I will always worry about my son, I just love him so much that I am so scared something bad will happen to him.

Hi Maria,
I hit upon your blog post accidentally. As a parent I share your concern about child safety and the anxiety that a parent has before the kids are back from school. One of my friend’s company has a software product called Schoolyard Alert, which the schools can use to send out SMS text messages, voice mails and emails to the parents in situations of emergency. In fact it is a complete student information system. You can check out what they offer at http://schoolyardapp.com/alerts. The school where my son studies also use SMS text messages to remind parents when the school fee is due or of the upcoming PTA meetings but not to the extent that they should be using it. I think schools are very slow in changing their mindset and embracing technology.
Best.
